The 3D window does not open or error: could not open connection to 3D window

Occurrence

The 3D window does not open after selecting Discover 3D>Open 3D Window or using one of the other
Discover 3D menu options. It may return an error "could not open connection to 3D window".


Solution

Browse to the installation directory for Discover 3D (by default C:\Program Files\Encom\Discover 3D).

Locate the Discover3D.exe located in this directory, and right-click on it and select Run As Administrator.

The 3D window should now open and then close Discover3D.

You should now be able to open Discover3D from the MapInfo/Discover.
