Error: “Licence file invalid or corrupt”

Occurrence:

The above error occurs on Discover startup.

This error can occur during the licence transfer procedure (transferring the Discover licence from one computer to another) on the destination computer when a previous Discover
installation’s licence file has been corrupted.

This also prevents accessing the Activate tab of the Discover > Licensing option, and therefore prevents licence transfer.

Solution:

You will need to manually remove the existing corrupted licence file.

Navigate to -

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Encom (Windows XP)

C:\ProgramData\Encom (Vista/W7 - note this is a hidden folder and you will need to manually type the location in the address bar)

On Vista/W7, also check for any compatibility files, by clicking the icon if visible, and delete these also -

Delete any ETDISK.SEC or ETROAM.SEC files present in the directory.

Restart Encom Discover and you should now be able to access the Discover Licence section to enter or request a new activation code and complete the licence procedure.
